Fifteen years of teaching, five years in the laboratory.
My doctoral work was carried out in the Sol–Gel Division of the CSIR–Central Glass & Ceramic Research Institute in Kolkata, under Dr. Milan Kanti Naskar, and awarded by Jadavpur University in 2018.
Hierarchical Zeolite and Metal Doped Zeolite: Synthesis, Physicochemical Study and Application
It is about building porous crystalline materials with pores at two different length scales, then using them to pull contaminants out of water and to catalyse reductions. That work is the reason I teach the way I do. Zeolite synthesis is unforgiving: a batch either crystallises or it does not, and finding out why means going back to the fundamentals every time.
Students usually arrive with a set of memorised rules and no mental picture underneath them. Most of a session is spent rebuilding that picture — which is slower at first, and then much faster.
I have taught continuously since 2011, privately and in the classroom. At university level I was Guest Lecturer in Physical Chemistry at Jadavpur University from 2019 to 2022. Undergraduates are the students I know best: it is where chemistry stops being arithmetic and starts requiring a model, and where most people quietly lose the thread.

Undergraduate chemistry
Comprehensive coverage of physical, organic and inorganic chemistry — the full range I taught at Jadavpur University, and the bulk of my work now.
Research supervision
For students with a project, a thesis or a first paper: experimental design, reading and interpreting characterisation data, structuring a manuscript, and answering reviewers.
Class 11–12 and pre-university chemistry
CBSE, ISC and state boards, AP, IB Higher Level and A-Level — for students preparing to read chemistry at university. Taken on in limited numbers alongside the above.
